Judith Bodman

Printmakers

I love all forms of printmaking, but etching or Intaglio, is my first love! I have really been exploring multi-plate color etchings more intently these last two years, and have found that my paintings have really influenced this process. I have been working on becoming a more serious oil painter too, and being able to use more color in my etchings has been very exciting. Relief printing using linocuts, in particular the reduction method, has also been wonderful for me to explore more use of color in my prints. I love carving the plates and the uncertainty of how one color will print on top of another, and it is always surprising. Plus the method can be a bit reckless, and I like that too!

Rip Bodman

Rip has chosen silkscreening, or serigraphy as his main method of printmaking for over fifty years. He loves using blends of color as opposed to using one screen, one color. Sometimes he will work with over a dozen colors on one screen. He likes to say he uses his squeegee more like a paint brush. His atmospheric blends are remarkable, and a real testament to what an incredible serigrapher he is.
